The Silver Lake Lodge - Idaho Springs, Colorado

We stayed overnight at the Silver Lake Lodge to make an early morning hike up to the summit of James Peak easier. The room was clean and well decorated, the service was friendly and welcoming and the evening meal was tasty, filling, beautifully presented and romantic.
Margaret and Andrew were very friendly, hospitable and accommodating. They made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, including making us a to-go breakfast so we could hit the trail before their normal 9am breakfast time.
We hope to come back and stay at the Silver Lake Lodge again!

There aren't enough ways to say how incredible this lodge and the owners are! We took a wrong turn (take the second turn onto Mine Rd, not the first!), and our truck got stuck a few minutes away due to the heavy snow. However Margaret was so kind and offered to come pick us up and drive us to the lodge. Then the next morning, Andrew dug his truck out and came to help us get out. They went above and beyond to help us, and made our stay so enjoyable. We ended up extending for a second night and we were so glad we did. Don't think twice, you will love this place. A million times better than an AirBnb. We hope to go back soon!

My husband and I stayed here in March for our honeymoon, and it was an absolute winter wonderland! The couple who owns the B&B made us feel so welcomed, even preparing a dinner the first night that tasted like it came straight from a 5-star Michelin restaurant. Every morning, we were treated to a delightful breakfast with fun, delicious surprises. The whole experience was magical, and we can’t wait to return in the summer to see the gorgeous lake nearby. This place truly made our honeymoon unforgettable!

Silver Lake Lodge is a wonderful bed and breakfast. The lodge is absolutely gorgeous, like out of a Hallmark movie. The owner is fabulous, she is so sweet, an amazing host, and an incredible cook (seriously, gourmet meals). The views from the lodge are breath-taking. I highly, highly recommend staying here. I went for my birthday weekend get away and will probably be making this an annual tradition.

My Husband and I stayed here after hiking to St Mary’s Glacier during the afternoon. It was nice to have our room be so close to the trail. We did drive to Idaho Springs for dinner which was about 30min away, but the drive is so pretty and we got to see a moose along the way!
Our room, the living room, and entire property was extremely comfortable and cozy, there wasn’t a chair or seat I sat in that wasn’t super comfy. This was much better than staying at any kind of hotel. We played a game out on the back deck after we got back from dinner while the sun set and then watched a movie in the tv room area. The couch was so amazing I fell asleep while my husband actually watched the movie. Our room was small (a basic interior room/no special views) but we had everything we could need in there, and the bed, number of pillows, and quality of blankets was just so nice! It felt more like visiting a family member and staying in a guest room than a hotel room ever has. The bathroom was fully stocked with everything we could need and not just in small travel size bottles.
The hosts were so nice and welcoming! They really made it clear they wanted our stay to be great. We had breakfast the next day which was delicious, even if not our typical breakfast. We had a yogurt parfait, OJ, eggs with spinach, ham, avocado, and a made from scratch croissant than my husband just raved about. We will 100% come back and recommend this location to anyone who may ask.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay at the Lodge last month. Andrew and Margret were wonderful host. We'd highly recommend it for any one young or old(er). We had the second floor room with a beautiful view of the mountains. Gourmet breakfast every morning along with a four course dinner one evening. ||We were a short walk away to a mountain lake (where a moose was spotted one morning) along with a hiking trail nearby that led to a glacier. Yes, there was still snow near by. The Lodge is located up over ten thousand feet on the mountain side. ||You're eleven miles from the highway. Which puts you at the west end of Idaho Springs. We made a trip into town one day and drove further up the highway to Vail another day. Close proximity to a number of mountain towns. ||All in all it was a well deserved relaxing visit. My wife and I recently stayed a couple nights. Was a beautiful bed and breakfast! The hosts/owners are so nice! Has beautiful views, cozy rooms with the most comfortable beds. Very peaceful and quiet. Would highly recommend!

Staying at Silver Lake Lodge was an absolute pleasure. The host is, without a doubt, the most amazing and helpful person we’ve ever met. The rooms were spotless, and the location was perfect—super close to St. Mary's Trail. I'm a vegetarian, and Margrett went out of her way to accommodate me. She let me use her kitchen to heat my food and even made a special breakfast for me (avocado toast), which was delicious. Two things made me fall in love with the lodge and Margrett:

1) I lost my phone on the trail, and Margrett was incredibly supportive, helping me get it back and even lending me her shoes.
2) We didn’t have a car to return home (we came by Uber), so Margrett asked all her guests if anyone was headed to Denver, going above and beyond as a host.

The lodge itself is beautiful in every corner. It’s a must-visit!
