This was a fascinating place to stay while visiting Porchiano, an ancient fortified town in Umbria. We were surprised to discover that the ground floor of this quaint house is a real artists studio, full of paintings in various stages of completion. Beside the studio is a very comfortable and private sitting and dining room full of interesting books in both English and Italian. The house is set on the side of the Porchiano hilltop. It's very quiet and typical of the region but with higher ceilings. We stayed in a double room with a large comfortable bed. There is a great silence here. Breakfasts were very nice and our host joined us at the table. The local villagers are very friendly and the first evening our host walked us around and spoke of the towns history. An unusual person to find on top of a hill in Umbria as she comes from California so speaks good English and Italian.
