We stayed at the Blue Lantern Inn in November 2024 for my wedding weekend - the night before my wedding and my actual wedding night. We stayed in the Oceanfront King + balcony, which was just over $1400 for two nights. We are local and live less than 10 minutes away but I wanted a place for the two ladies in my wedding party to get ready on the day of my wedding. When I made the reservation, I spoke with a young woman (I didnât get her name) who was very helpful in helping me to pick a room that would be good for us to get ready for the wedding in. On the day before check-in, I called to see if it would be possible to check in an hour early because I needed to have somewhere to drop off my dress. They promised to do their best and indeed did send me a text message on the day of check-in letting me know that I could check in an hour early, which was a big help. When I got to the hotel, I was welcomed by Connor and Kathleen (I think those were their names), who were very friendly and offered me congratulations and a glass of champagne. I brought my things to my room, which had a stunning view, and then immediately left for my rehearsal. Thatâs about where the positive vibes at this hotel ended. That night the toilet ran all night and I found the bed extremely uncomfortable. The following morning - the morning of my wedding - the toilet was still running and had clogged. (Not that it should matter, but I want to clarify that there was nothing âgrossâ in there; the toilet was running constantly and would not flush properly with literally anything in it.) I was a little panicked because the hair and makeup artist was arriving, so I called the front desk to ask for assistance. The woman who answered told me she would bring me a plunger. I was a little taken aback; I explained the situation, and that it had not overflowed and was not gross, but that I wasnât sure that that would solve the problem. She responded by saying, âWe have a plunger and either I can use it or you can use it.â That is a direct quote which I remember vividly. I was stunned. I truly donât believe I am better than anyone else and respect that this is a boutique hotel which may not have maintenance staff on hand at all times, but I was literally in the process of getting ready for my wedding. That same woman then brought the plunger to my door, which I wordlessly accepted, having no idea what else to do. The plunger, of course, did nothing to solve the fact that the toilet was continuously running and that the tank would not fill sufficiently to actually flush it. At this point there were four ladies in the room, including the hair and makeup artist, and I left the plunger by the toilet so that it could be used whenever anyone needed to flush. No one from the hotel ever followed up or asked us about it again. We then left and my husband and I returned later that night after my wedding reception. Upon returning, we found that the room had not been made up. Upon inquiry, I was told that the housekeeping staff leaves at a certain time of day and that we had left the room 30 minutes too late for it to be made up. For context, we left the room at 2:30pm; Iâm certain, of course, that it was not later than that because my wedding was nearby at 3pm. Breakfast is provided at this hotel and a limited menu of hot and cold items are offered. Breakfast is available in the lobby area, or it can be brought to your room for an extra $25 per day. On both mornings, I had requested to have breakfast brought to the room. The second and final morning, we requested to have breakfast brought between 9am and 9:30am (you are given 30 minute windows to choose from); my husband ordered a hot breakfast and I ordered yogurt with fruit. Checkout is at 11am. By 10:00 we had not received our breakfast and my husband called down to check. We were told that they were running behind because âliterally everyone requested to have breakfast brought up today.â At 10:17, breakfast arrived, but did not include the yogurt or fruit. We were told that would be brought separately in just a few minutes. By this point, we had little over a half hour before check-out, so my hopes of enjoying a peaceful breakfast together on the balcony would not come to pass - even though the hotel was sure to charge us that extra $50 for the luxury of having breakfast brought to the room. My wedding was wonderful and beautiful and went off without a hitch - with the exception of this place. The experience and service were totally inadequate for the price point and I wish we had stayed elsewhere.
